Trading Tech for Time

These days there are seriously a million tools to help you streamline, manage and improve the use of your time, and let’s be honest, as a busy female founder you need all the time you can get and hopefully you can make more time for yourself in the process

Many of our favourite tools are free, however I never shy away from investing money in technology that can help me gain more time, mental capacity and clarity - and that’s what good tech should do.

So what are some considerations when you’re choosing your tech?

  • Choose the Right Tools: There is no one solution that meets everyone's needs so take the time to consider what is going to work for your business, for your immediate needs and with the resources that you have (trying to implement over complicated technology can cause you more headaches than it’s worth.

  • Do your homework: Start by talking to other business owners in your industry - it always helps when someone else has done the heavy lifting! A few tech tools that we could not do without here at One Fine Day are Monday, Fathom, Notion, Klayvio and Chat GPT - many have free trials so you can try before you buy

  • Automate Where Possible: If you have consistent and repetitive tasks within your business, or simple workflows that could be replicated in a system or tech tool go for it! Anything that saves time and reduces errors. Think email automations, website enquiries, job workflows…

  • Invest in training your team: I have seen it a thousand times….technology is only valuable to your business if people use it! I have seen large organisations spend tens of thousands of dollars on new systems that just sit here and don’t get used because they haven;t been trained properly and there wasn’t someone responsible for adoption. Taking the time to understand your technology is a good investment.

  • Review regularly: Just because something worked for you last year, doesn’t mean that it will this year and all of those small tech monthly payments can quickly add up. Make sure you build in a tech systems review process into your annual business flow.

Embracing technology is a step towards not just managing our time better, but enhancing our overall quality of life. You can leverage digital tools to create more space for innovation, more time for self-care, and sustainable growth within your business.
